Fazil Iskander Culture Center to open in Moscow

The Moscow government will open the Fazil Iskander Library and Culture Center this year, marking the 85th anniversary of the writer, RIA Novosti reports.

Sergey Kapkov, Head of the Moscow culture department, gave details about the project at the anniversary evening of the writer in the Memorial Museum yesterday. The library will be closed for reconstruction this spring and will be reopened at the Fazil Iskander Center in late 2014.

The library will have the writer’s room, books from his personal collection, works in Russian and other languages, archive documents, manuscripts, gifts and other personal items. The library will host events related to the author’s works. USSR literature of the second half of the 20th century will also find its place in the library. The culture center will serve to promote the Russian language and consolidate people in Russia.
