On March 22 in the concert hall "Rossiya" in the Luzhniki Stadium, a citywide celebration "Nowruz 2014", the main holiday of the spring equinox for many Muslim nations, which marks the beginning of a new cycle of nature, was officially opened.
"The event, organized on the initiative of the Moscow Department for inter-regional cooperation, national policies and relations with religious organizations, with the participation of the Permanent Missions of the Republics under the Russian President, is taking place in the capital for the seventh time. The celebration has been attended by representatives of the peoples who traditionally celebrate Nowruz - Tatars, Uzbeks, Bashkirs, Tajiks, Kyrgyz, Kazakhs, Turkmens, Turks, Kurds, Azeris, Dagestani peoples and others. This time many people from our Republic are among the guests. The Permanent Mission of Dagestan was represented at the event by the Deputy Permanent Representative, Khadzhimurat Kazhlaev," Dagestan's Permanent Representation told VK.
The most memorable part of the event was the colorful gala concert of Russia's pop stars. Lev Leshchenko, Hasan Haydarov, Nohid Zeynalpur, the participant on the First Channel's show "The Voice", Farid Askerov, the musical group "Zaman" and others demonstrated their creativity. Dagestan proudly presented the Honoured Dance Ensemble "Happy Childhood", which performed the traditional dances "Kovha" and "My Dagestan".
In addition, a national crafts fair has been prepared for the guests, where one can see the works of folk craftsmen and artists of every nationality, and also taste national dishes.
Speaking about the celebration of Nowruz, Khadzhimurat Kazhlaev said: "This vivid holiday in honor of the vernal equinox can be also called the main holiday of friendship, because it involves many peoples from different countries and republics. I am glad that it is organized annually in Moscow. The Deputy Permanent Representative also thanked the Government of Moscow for the wonderful and carefully-prepared event.
