The Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) is marking its 23rd anniversary today.
The RSUH was opened at the Moscow State History and Archive Institute in March 1991. The Institute itself was opened by academician M.N. Pokrovsky on September 3, 1930.
Y.N. Afanasyev was the first rector of the RSUH. RAS corresponding member Y.I. Pivovar is the current rector of the University. The RSUH trains professionals of 22 specializations and 12 sectors. It consists of 10 institutes and international education centers, including the Confucius Institute, Knorozov Mesoamerican Center, Russian-American Center for Biblical and Jewish Studies.
