The 4th “Great Victory Achieved by Unity” International Forum of veterans, historians, politicians, public figures, journalists, experts, young activists and scouts has started in Kursk today. 21 delegations have arrived from the CIS, Georgia, the Baltic states, Abkhazia and South Ossetia for the Forum. Flowers were laid at the memorial “In memory of the fallen in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a greeting note to the Forum and emphasized the importance of preserving the memories of the events and passing them to next generations. He added that the forum was organized on the eve of the 70th anniversary of liberation of Ukraine and Belarus from fascists.
The Forum will focus on such topics as preservation of historical memories, progress of modern patriotic projects in the CIS, popularization of historical knowledge about the Great Patriotic War, problems of falsifications of history and rehabilitation of Nazism. Members of youth organizations will present scientific, educational and social projects.
A concert will conclude the forum.
The Forum was organized by the Institute for Eurasian Studies, the North-South Center for Political Analysis and the CIS Interstate Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation. Vestnik Kavkaza provides information support for the Forum.
