The History Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University is marking its 80th anniversary at the Conference Hall of the Shuvalov Building. The celebrations were started by MSU Rector Victor Sadovnichy and Dean of the History Faculty Sergey Karpov. Sergey Naryshkin, Russian Duma speaker and head of the Russian History Society, made a speech.
Naryshkin said that lawmakers were interested in cooperating with historians. He reminded that Russia had marked the 20th anniversary of the Constitution and the Federal Assembly, and the 400th anniversary of the Zemsky Sobor (“assembly of the land”), where Mikhail Romanov had been elected. The legislator added that joint projects to mark the beginning of the First World War will be organized.
In his speech, Naryshkin highlighted the annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol. He blames the Kiev authorities for the Ukrainian crisis.
The standard of the faculty was placed. A choir performed Gaudeamus. Heads of history faculties of other Russian state universities, honorary guests and students of the MSU are taking part in the ceremony. Public, political and religious figures, diplomats and teachers will join them.
