Azerbaijan will open the 142nd theater season on September 10, the first Sheki International Theater Festival on September 10-19, Day.az reports.
The festival in Sheki was organized in accordance with the state theater program for 2009-2019, the Ministry for Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, executives of Sheki and the Union of Theater Workers of Azerbaijan. 12 theaters will stage performances. The Kalmyk National Drama Theater and the Musrepov Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth will take part in the festival.
Performances will be staged at the Sheki State Drama Theater and the Amphitheater. The 100th anniversary of People's Artist Lutfali Abdullayev will be marked on September 19, an exhibition dedicated to him will open, and an exposition of artists.
The Sheki Theater Festival will be held in Azerbaijan once in every two years.
