Chechnya concludes The Caucasus – Homeland of Hospitality Forum

Grozny concluded The Caucasus – Homeland of Hospitality Forum last week, organized by the Chechen Ministry of Culture, the governmental committee for tourism and the Russian Ministry of Culture. It was a roundup of Culture Year in Chechnya. Over 70 experts from Russia, Azerbaijan, Abkhazia, Belarus, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the U.S. and South Ossetia attended the forum.

Chechen Deputy Minister for Culture Mamed Madayev told Vestnik Kavkaza that the goal of his ministry was to improve the material and technical state of cultural centers, and organize meetings such as The Caucasus – Homeland of Hospitality Forum.

Deputy Minister for Culture Rustam Milkiyev noted that tourism was a new direction in the country, Chechnya needed to create new tourism routes to its cultural monuments. In his words, the forum helps people exchange experience in tourism development. Chechnya is opening the Veduchi Skiing Complex, the republic has cultural centers and plans to open tourism routes. The forum was held at the Kezenoy-Am rowing center of the USSR Olympic team.

Madayev reminded that the forum was held a little over a week after the terrorist attack on the Printing House on December 4. It was important to demonstrate that everything in Chechnya was normal, the region was stable, the sectors of culture and tourism were fine, the deputy minister added.

Milkiyev said that there had been more international, regional and all-Russian forums and festivals in Chechnya in 2012-2013 than in the other republics of the NCFD put together. Chechnya has recently held a festival of Makhmud Esambayev, and festivals of popular arts with participants from South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Belarus and Ukraine. The Bashlam children’s ensemble of song and dance marked its 45th anniversary yesterday. The State Philharmonic marks its 75th anniversary today. 6 other large events will be held this year. Milkiyev noted that Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov was paying special attention to development of culture.
