Director Andrey Zvyagintsev's "Leviathan" has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, as stated at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles.
"Leviathan" has already won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
The previous Russian film nominated for an Oscar was Nikita Mikhalkov's "12" in 2007.
