Azerbaijani painter Tair Salakhov has received the National Order of the Legion of Honour at the Tair Salakhov Museum in Icheri Sheher (Old City) in Baku. French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Meunier said that Salakhov united the Orient and the West with his artwork displayed in Paris. Fashion designer Pierre Cardin characterized Salakhov as a master of true realism whose works will remain in the history of art, AzerTAc reports.Salakhov thanked the ambassador and the French president for the Order. He recalled that his first exhibition in Paris had been held in 1963. The portrait of composer Gara Garayev was the special highlight of the exhibition, in Salakhov’s words.The painter emphasized that the Order was a symbol of recognition of visual arts of the whole Azerbaijan.
