Yerevan branch of MSU matriculates first students

The Yerevan branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University has matriculated its first students. They will specialize in applied mathematics and informatics, law, journalism, international relations and linguistics. Teachers from Moscow will deliver lectures to the students, according to Svetlana Mkrtchan, deputy director of the branch, TASS reports.


The agreement to open an MSU branch in Yerevan was signed in Moscow on February 20. The rector of MSU, Victor Sadovnichiy, said that MSU had been actively cooperating with Yerevan State University in the 1990s.


Armen Ashotyan, the education minister of Armenia, reminded that the presidents of Armenia and Russia had mentioned the idea of opening a Yerevan branch of MSU many times.
