A monument to composer Dmitri Shotakovich has been unveiled in Moscow today. It has become the composer's first monument in the city. Sculptor Georgy Frangulyan of the Russian Academy of Art created the monument to mark 40 years since the musician's death, the 70th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 15th Anniversary of the Wild Berry Forest, Gazeta.ru reports.
A concert of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia followed the unveiling ceremony, at which Vladimir Spivakov conducted.
