Winners of Muslim Magomayev contest announced

Baritones from Belarus and Azerbaijan, Ilya Silchukov and Javid Samedov, have become the winners of the First International Vocal Contest of Muslim Magomayev in Moscow.


A musical forum was held at the concert hall Crocus City Hall on October 23-24. The contest is a tribute to the memory of Muslim Magomayev, who died two years ago, soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, head of the judges, Tamara Sinyavskaya said.


The second place was given to tenor Samir Jafarov from Azerbaijan. The bronze prize was given to a singer from Belarus, Oksana Volkova and the youngest participant of the contest, 19-year old baritone Dmitry Trifonov from Russia.


Magomayev"s songs were part of the program.


The judges consisted of chairman Tamara Sinyavskaya, executives Yelena Obraztsova and Tamara Gverdtsiteli, maestro Yuri Bashmet, composers Alexey Rybnikov and Michel Legrand, the head of Baku Musical Academy of Uzeir Gadzhibeyli Farkhad Badalbeyli. The grand prize is worth $30 000, the first prize - $15 000, second - $10 000, third - $5 000.
