Chairman of Georgian Parliament David Bakradze initiated a bill to announce private owners of media, Business Georgia reports.
He said that it is an initiative from the democratic reform package. It is necessary for the society to know the owner of a media source, his interests and financing. The country will start establishing a similar standard as in USA, UK and other leading European countries.
This will be a step to making media independent, Bakradze said. Special attention will be paid to off-shore companies.
