Judges cannot decide what to replace Stalin’s monument with

A committee in Georgia has failed to decide the winner of the contest
for the best memorial to the victims of Stalin's repressions and the
victims of the Russian-Georgian war to replace the monument of Stalin
in Gori.

The Georgian Minister of Culture and Protection of Memorials Nikoloz
Rurua took part in the judging today.

The minister said that they will prolong the contest to January 1,
allowing the artists to improve their works. Other artists may also
apply to join the contest.

Rurua said that the memorial needs to be durable.

The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the
municipality of Gori. 41 projects were presented at the contest.
