The Azerbaijani Film Festival, which was scheduled to start today, has
been disrupted in Yerevan. As the organizer of the festival, the
chairman of the Caucasian Centre for Peace Initiatives Georgy Vanian
said, the owner of the theatre refused to rent the space to the
festival at the last moment, 1news.az reports, referring to the
“Azatyutyun” radio station.
On the eve of the event, Georgy Vanian announced that the films
scheduled to be shown at the festival will have nothing to do with the
topic of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"In terms of total propaganda we are trying to break through the
propaganda and to create a space for free expression for the citizens
of Armenia. Azerbaijani films that we have included in the festival
program are not based on dialogue, they are real films made in the
real, present-day Azerbaijan. We on this side of the wall of
propaganda are trying to provide our audience with a view of a
Realistic Azerbaijan,” the organizer of the festival said.
