State Kremlin Palace celebrates 10th anniversary of Russia’s Armenian Union

The State Kremlin Palace has had a concert dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Russia’s Armenian Union. The Russian president congratulated the Armenian community with the anniversary, although he failed to be at the concert.


Russia’s Armenian Union had its IV session in Moscow. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited the organization and congratulated it with the anniversary. Russian Premier Minister Vladimir Putin also expressed congratulation.


The organization has 240 offices in 70 regions of Russia. It opened over 400 Sunday schools and restored tens of churches. It supports refugees, asylums and retirement houses. Russia has the biggest Armenian community, over 2 million.


President of the Universal Armenian Congress Ara Abramyan said that in 2011 the Armenian Union of Russia plans to expand its activities. New projects include modernization and more active cooperation to prevent social, national and religious conflicts. He expressed hope that Armenians living in Russia would visit their homeland at least once or twice a year.
