The first Azerbaijani-Canadian scientific conference devoted to the protection of public interests was held on Sunday in Toronto. The conference was organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in the country together with the Azerbaijan-America Council and the Association of Azerbaijani Students at the University of Toronto, the Azerbaijani embassy said on Monday, Trend reports.
Addressing the meeting, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Canada, Farid Shafiev, spoke about the activities of the Azerbaijani diaspora. The ambassador suggested the creation of a unifying mechanism between organizations to enhance the activity of the diaspora. Shafiev stressed that protecting Azerbaijani interests abroad is an important duty of every citizen of Azerbaijan.
