The first Russian-Georgian media-forum opened today in the Armenian
resort city of Tsakhkadzor, director of the Center of Humanitarian
Cooperation, editor of an internet portal 'Russia-Georgia: expert
dialogue' Nikolai Silayev told News Armenia.
The forum is aimed at assisting in the expansion of cooperation
between Russian and Georgian journalists, the spreading of knowledge
about processes in Russia and Georgia, the support of constructive
contacts between the societies of both countries, and the development
of joint proposals to cope with the crisis in Russian-Georgian
relations.
The forum was organized by a non-commercial partnership for
development of international ties the Center of Humanitarian Studies
(www.georgiamonitor.org).
The forum includes the following topics: media as business, experience
of Russia and Georgia; political transformations in Russia and
Georgia; North Caucasus, threats, challenges and solutions; media as a
factor of social life of Russia and Georgia; Georgia in Russian media;
Russia in Georgian media; Russian foreign policy, Georgian foreign
policy; media as a profession.
The sides will also discuss political transformations in Russia and
Georgia, the situation in the Northern Caucasus, prospects of
harmonizing their interests, forms of further cooperation between
media-communities.
Vremya Novostey, Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Rossiyskaya Gazeta (Russia),
Resonance, Ahali Taoba, Georgia and World (Georgia), 'Expert' journal
and Russkiy Reportyor (Russia) take part in the forum.um.
