EAMF to distinguish truth from falsehood

The European and Asian Media Forum (EAMF), organized by RIA Novosti, has started work in the capital of Ukraine. The Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, Alexey Vlasov, is participating in the forum.

The ex-President of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, says that the annual forum will help European and Asian media and journalists to teach the audience to distinguish truth from falsehood using multimedia technologies.
An unpleasant event happened on the first day of the forum, followed by a quick reaction from its organizers. RIA Novosti removed the signs next to photos by Armenian photographer Ruben Mangasaryan, which contained distorted information. The photographer’s works contain images of Azerbaijan’s Agderin District, occupied by Armenian forces, presented as Armenian.

The problem started controversies between the Armenian and Azerbaijani media. The editor-in-chief of Vestnik Kavkaza said that it did not affect the friendly atmosphere at the well-organized forum.

The forum concludes its work today. Media communities have been discussing information cooperation in the European and Asian regions for two days. The topics included development of multi-media technologies and the switch to digital carriers, competition between the traditional media and owners of the new platforms and the phenomenon of social networks.
