Soltaniyeh assures that Bushehr will not be second Chernobyl

The Iranian Bushehr nuclear power plant will never become a second
Chernobyl, the representative of Iran to the IAEA, Ali Asghar
Soltaniyeh, told a news conference in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.

He added that experienced engineers from Russia and Iran are working
on the construction of the nuclear power plant and there are no
grounds for the Bushehr plant to become a second Chernobyl.

The construction of the Bushehr power plant was begun by a German
company in 1974. It is expected to fully be operating fully in January
2011.

The Russian side has confirmed that the Bushehr nuclear power plant
will soon be connected to the grid. Despite the fact that the project
is almost finished, Russian specialists will continue to work at
Bushehr for another two years.
