Construction of high-speed railways will cost Russia 50 billion euros

Construction of high-speed railways for the 2018 World Cup will cost
at least 50 billion euro. The Director General of Skorostniye
Magistrali (High-speed railways) Denis Muratov said that 1 km will
cost 14-22 million. The price may be higher on certain road sections,
depending on the landscape, Interfax reports.


Muratov said that the Russian Railways plans to connect high-speed
railways of Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod,
Kazan, Samara and Yekaterinburg. The railway from Volga Region and
Ural is 3,000 km, from Moscow to Saint-Petersburg - 660 km.


The director general said that the railway of Saint-Petersburg will
cost approximately 1.015 billion, including expenses for land
purchases. Realization of the project requires purchase of 8,000
hectares of land worth 50 billion rubles. Similar expenses on Volga
Region-Ural line are unknown. The high-speed railway between Moscow
and Saint-Petersburg is expected to be launched in 2017.
