Azerbaijan has increased prices for mail services, water and railway
transport, initiated by the Tariff Council of Azerbaijan.
A set of state structures requested a reconsideration of prices on January 31.
Basув on the request, the price for mail services of the state-owned
"Azərpoçt" mail service, belonging to the Ministry of Communication
and Information Technology, was increased. The price varies from 5
gyapiks to 2 manats, depending on the size of the type of mail.
Concerning international mail, the price depends on the parcel“s
weight and the prices in foreign countries.
"Azərsu" requested higher water prices. The price for one cubic meter
of water in Baku, Sumgayit, Mingyachevar, Shirvan and Khyrdalan,
Absheron District is 30 gyapiks. The price in other regions is 25
gyapiks. The sewage services now cost 6 gyapiks.
The price for industrial enterprises using water did not change. The
monthly water supply for consumers with no water-meters dropped from 6
to 5 cubic meters per month.
"Azərbaycan Dəmir Yolları" requested reconsideration of prices for
passenger transport. The price depends on the type of carriages. The
prices for ordinary carriages reached 3-19 manats, high-speed
carriages — 14-25 manats, depending on the distance.
The price for tickets to electric trains was incresed from 20 gyapiks
to 2 manats, high-speed trains — from 60 gyapiks to 6 manats. The
tarrif council took the low prices for passenger transport approved in
1997.
Analyses show that the prices in Azerbaijan will be lower than in the
neighbor countries and the CIS states.
The new prices come into force on February 1, 2011.
