Iranian transport minister dismissed

Iranian Roads and Transport Minister Hamid Behbahani has been
dismissed, IRIB News reports.

147 members of parliament voted for the dismissal, 78 voted against, 9
abstained from voting. 234 out of 242 deputies took part in the voting
process.

Hamid Behbahani did not make a report at the parliament on Tuesday.
Iranian Speaker Ali Larijani called it a violation of the law.

The parliament says Behbahani is unable to fulfill his duties as
minister, citing the poor condition of air transport and numerous air
crashes.

The decision to reconsider the work of Behbahani was made after the
crash of Boeing-727 of Iran Air company, which flew from Tehran to
Urmia.

77 died, 26 were injured. 7 out of 12 crew members died, 5 were injured.

Behbahani was introduced during the first presidential term of Ahmadinejad.
8 ministers resigned or were dismissed during the presidential term.

A major scandal happened when the Minister of Interior Affairs Ali
Kordan presented a report to the parliament. He was accused of
document forgery. His honorary diploma turned out to be fake. The
minister was dismissed.
