The heads of the railway departments of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran
will sign an agreement on establishment of a joint venture on the
project of a North-South railway transport corridor in Tehran on the
7th of February, the head of the International Department of the
Iranian railways Abbas Nyazyari told Trend.
According to him, today, after a meeting held in Tehran from January
31-February 1, Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia approved the charter of the
joint venture.
The project envisages construction of a stretch of railway about 8.5
kilometres long and a station at Astara in Azerbaijan. The
construction will be financed together with Iran.
