SOCAR (State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic) provides Russia
with 5.5-6 million cubic meters of gas a day, the head of SOCAR's
Azerigas structure Akper Gadzhiyev said, Trend reports.
The gas supplies are provided according to a mid-term contract signed
with Russia's Gazprom. SOCAR transports 1 billion cubic meters of gas
annually.
Last year, SOCAR provided Russia with an average of 3 million cubic
meters of gas daily.
Gadzhiyev said that there were maintenance works at the Siyazan
compression station in September-November last year. The station
started work on January 1, 2011.
SOCAR exported 799.75 million cubic meters of gas to Russia in 2010.
40.32 million cubic meters of Azernaijani gas were exported in
December.
SOCAR and Gazprom signed the mid-term contract (witha prolongation
opportunity) on purchase and sales of Azerbaijani gas to Russia in
Baku on October 14, 2009. A supplement to the contract was added in
Baku in early September, 2010. Gazprom will receive 2 billion cubic
meters of gas in 2011 and over 2 billion in 2012.
Gas supplies started on January 1 last year.
