Turkey is planning to start the privatization of electricity
production in the second mass action after the privatization of
electricity distribution facilities, TRT reports.
Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek presented information on the
goals of privatization at a council in Istanbul. He said that their
goal is to reduce the role of government as a participant of the free
market. The minister said the privatization of electricity production
will take 2-3 years.
The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz touched upon
the investment topic in wind energy. He said that investments in wind
energy show progress. Wind facilities produce a total of 1200MW.
Yildiz expressed hope for a much greater contribution of wind energy
into the country's energy sector in the coming 3 years.
