Bulgaria plans to boost supply of Azerbaijani gas

Bulgaria has suggested accelerating the implementation of a joint
project with Azerbaijan on gas deliveries amounting to one billion
cubic meters of gas, said Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov, Trend
reports.

The parties signed a memorandum of understanding on delivery of one
billion cubic meters of Azeri gas in November 2009.

Parvanov also noted the importance of accelerating the construction of
pipelines connecting the gas systems in Turkey and Greece, to
accelerate and deepen the work on strategic projects for the
transportation of compressed gas across the Black Sea and on the
construction of a southern liquefied natural gas terminal.

On 14 September 2010 Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary signed
the Baku Declaration on the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romanian Interconnector
(AGRI) project. It is aimed at supplying liquefied natural gas to
Romania from Azerbaijan via Georgia and the Black Sea. Azerbaijan and
Bulgaria are working on the issue of transportation of compressed gas
via the Black Sea.
