Iran and Azerbaijan to sign deal on natural gas imports

Tehran is expected to sign a base contract on gas imports with
Azerbaijan, Iranian Deputy Minister for Petrol Javad Ouji said,
MehrNews reports.


The deputy minister said that Iran, Syria and Iraq have reached a
trilateral agreement on gas pipeline construction. Iran will realize
the project. Ouji said that an Iranian bank provided $3 billion for
the issue.


He noted that the documents were prepared for signing. 2 million cubic
meters of gas will be transported through Baku-Tehran pipeline daily
in the first year. The capacity will be increased to 5 million cubic
meters of gas in the following year.
