Data on Azerbaijani agricultural production made public at meeting in Ministry of Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan has held a meeting on the
activities of the Ministry in 2010, challenges in 2011 and the work
carried out in 2010 to increase transparency and implement the
measures provided for in the national strategic plan for fighting
corruption for 2007-2011, Trend reports.

At the meeting, Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abbasov noted positive
results from a number of government programs and regulations. In the
past few years the overall growth rate of domestic agricultural
products amounted to 2.5 percent. Except for a decrease in production
of wheat and potatoes due to natural disasters, growth in domestic
agricultural products in 2010 amounted to five percent, including 3.5
percent in the field of crop production and 6.1 percent for livestock
products.

In 2010 were produced: 2000.8 thousand tons of grain and beans, 953.7
thousand tons of potatoes, 1181.1 thousand tons of vegetables, 433.4
thousand tons of melon, 256.5 thousand tons of sugar beet and 37.3
thousand tons of cotton.
