Baku has selected the project for the Azerbaijani Oil Museum. It was
developed by architects from the TOCA company. A total of 4 projects
took part in the tender, 1news.az reports.
The project consists of a building in the form of a map of Azerbaijan
with an amorphous roof, symbolizing Azerbaijan and its oil deposits.
There will be 8 theme parks built near the artificial water storage in
the form of the Caspian Sea. The ‘Eastern’ part of the water storage
facility will have a 50m watchtower above the museum.
The complex will be constructed using energy-efficient materials. Wind
turbines will be used as alternative energy sources.
The museum will cover 10,000 sq m, including exhibition halls, a
research center, a children’s museum, a library, an archive,
warehouses and other structures. There will be a café and a parking
lot. SOCAR (the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic)
confirmed that TOCA took part in the tender. However, not a single
project has been approved yet due to unfulfilled technical
requirements.
