The construction of a new hydroelectric power station, with a capacity of 5 megawatts, has started in the Pankisi Gorge, in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia. As the local radio station Hereti reports, electricity generation will amount to 30 million kilowatt hours annually, Business-Georgia reports.
Construction is being financed by Georgian-German private investment amounting to 4,000,000 euros and
should be completed by the end of the year. It is already the second hydroelectric power station to be opened in the Pankisi gorge.
