The landslide-stricken highway in Tuapse has started a new construction stage, Yuga.ru reports.
The Russian Transport Ministry says that an alternate river stream in form of a 120 meter long pipe was built. The builders started construction of drilling platforms, each weighing 60 tons. One of them is ready for the first stilt. Each stilt is 35 meters long.
Measures are also being taken to prevent landslides on Jugba-Sochi road. The road is being studied.
A landslide occurred on Jugba-Sochi road on February 8, damaging a road line. The land moved 6 meters one February 10, making traffic impossible. An emergency situation was announced in Tuapse District.
Restoration of the road requires 150-160 million rubles. Traffic was re-directed to Shaumyan mountain pass. At least three weeks are need for restoration.
