Azerbaijan wants the Caspian states to join Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania in the Viking railway transit project, the Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmar Mammadyarov, told a press-conference, Trend cites Ukraine News as saying.
The minister said that the international legal basis of Azerbaijan and Ukraine comprises 114 documents. He had talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Constantine Grishenko on Wednesday. They discussed the signing of additional documents within the framework of meetings and visits in 2011.
Mammadyarov said that they plan a session of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation and meetings of the presidents. Further cooperation will depend on the presidents’ agreements.
The Azerbaijani minister said that there are prospects for energy and transport projects, especially in the context of connecting the Caspian, Black and the Baltic Seas. The Caspian states may join the Viking project.
