Turkmenistan and Iran held a joint business forum in Ashgabat where the two countries discussed possibilities of concluding new economic contracts, Trend reports referring to officials of Turkmenistan.
The two countries are actively cooperating in the energy sphere. About a year ago an additional gas delivery route Dovletabat-Sarahs-Hangeran was built. The pipeline is ensuring an annual supply of 20 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas to Iran.
In addition, negotiations are under way on expanding cooperation in the field of Turkmen electricity supplies. Iran stands here not only as a buyer, but also provides transit of the energy to Turkey.
The two countries are currently participating in such joint projects as the railway connecting Tejan, Sarakhs and Mashad and a fiber-optic communication line “Trans-Asia and Europe.”
