Russia not to raise gas prices for Armenia

Dmitry Medvedev has promised not to raise gas prices for Armenia. Agreement on this was reached today at a meeting between the Russian president and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan in St. Petersburg, presidential spokesman Armen Arzumanyan said. He explained that prices will remain stable during 2011.

According to the agreement, Armenia buys 1,000 cubic meters of gas from Russia for $180, while the usual price for exporting gas is $340 per 1,000 cubic meters ($243.13 in large quantitites).
