Norm (Azerbaijan) and China Triumph International Engineering Co ltd (CTIE, China) signed a contract on the construction of the Gizildash Cement factory in Baku on Tuesday, Trend reports.
The contract was signed by the Director General of Norm Ismail Erkovan and head of the CTIE Peng Shou.
The cement factory at Garadag District of Baku will produce 5,000 tons of clinker daily and two million tons of cement annually. It will be the largest cement factory in the Caucasus. It will be launched in 2013. The project is worth approximately $350 million and is one of the largest non-oil projects.
400 people will be working in the plant and 100-150 in the carriers. 2500 more people will be used in other spheres, such as chemistry, transport, fuel and others.
Equipment for the plant was purchased from the leading manufacturers of Germany and other European states.
The transport turnover of raw materials and products will reach 5.5 million tons. Currency outflow will reduce by $150 million.
There are no makers of oil well cement in the Caspian region with API standards.
10,000 hectares will be cleared of stone carriers in Garadag District. The factory will be built from scratch.
Construction of the factory was approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan on April 12, 2010.
