The government of Armenia needs new instruments to support national manufacturers, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at a government hour on Wednesday.
He believes that the government needs to provide benefits to Armenian enterprise and, use purpose programs allowing new workplaces to open. The prime minister noted that the government passed 14 programs on supporting investments worth 65 billion drams, which will create 1000 jobs.
The creation of a competitive economy within 15-25 years needs to be based on scientific evidence. This means construction of new buildings for sale. The country needs at least 10 universities meeting modern standards, he said.
Sargsyan said that they will not abandon short-term and mid-term industrial policy. On the contrary, the government will develop a program for stimulation of exports from Armenia. The Ministry of Economy has already developed such a program, he said.
Economic policy is based on free trade with the EU, the premier claimed.
