Turkmenistan to provide 90 billion cubic meters of gas to foreign markets

Turkmenistan will provide over 90 billion cubic meters of gas annually to the Asian region, taking into account of the pipelines to China and Iran and realization of the TAPI project, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at the conference on Turkmenistan oil and gas in Singapore, ITAR-TASS reports.

Over 350 delegates from various countries are taking part in the conference at the finance center of the South-East Asia. The president plans to continue developing cooperation, inviting investments and implementing innovative technologies.

One of the major international projects is launching of the pipeline connecting Turkmenistan and China in December 2009. Turkmenistan is increasing gas supplies to Iran by expanding the gas pipeline network with neighbouring countries. Another major project is construction of the TAPI pipeline (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India), allowing 33 billion cubic meters of gas to be exported.

Turkmen geologists say the country’s largest gas field Yoloten-Osman contains approximately 21 trillion cubic meters of gas.
Turkmenistan plans to hold similar conferences in Europe and the USA. It will host the Second International Gas Congress in May 2011 at the National Tourism Zone Avaza on the Caspian coast. Ashkhabad will welcome participants of the 16th International Exhibition and Science-Practical Conference on “oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2011”.
