Azerbaijani Communications Ministry rounds up 2010

Azerbaijani enterprises have invested 110 million manats in communication in 2010, a government report says, Trend reports.


79 million manats of the sum were invested in the structures of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies in 2010.


Investments in communication and information technologies in 2010 increased by 29.7% compared to 2009, reaching 1161.3 million manats, 78.6% of the income in the sphere belongs to non-state communication services.


The indicator in 2004 was 356.2 million manats, 2005 – 488.9 million manats, 2006 – 599.9 million manats, 2007 – 735.4 million manats, 2008 – 967.8 million manats, 2009 – 1081.9 million manats and 2010 – 1161.3 million manats.


Most TV communication means switched over to digital. Azerbaijan concluded laying a 240-km fiber-optic cable.


Investment projects allowed the telephone network to have an additional 71.9 numbers, exceeding 1.66 million units.


There were 66.8 telephones per 100 families in 2009, 67.3 in 2010. The indictor in Baku is 130, other districts – 47.3.


There are 14 computers per 100 people and 45% Internet users, 12% of whom use broadband Internet.


The address base of the Baku Telephone Communication and Aztelekom services increased by increased by 3994 units in 2010, reaching 27,294 units. 70% of the country is using the CDMA network.

Mobile phone service has reached 100% coverage. The number of users of mobile services increased by 1.2 million and reached 8.9 million.


Income from mobile services increased by 30.2% compared to 2009, reaching 782.6 million manats. 73.6% of the sum belongs to mobile communications.


Income from information technologies increased by 77.6% compared to 2009, reaching 91.8 million manats.
