China to invest $2 billion in Iranian dam construction

China will invest $2 billion in constructing the Bakhtiyari hydroelectric power plant in Iran’s Loristan Province, MEHR reports.


The dam will be constructed on the border of Khuzestan and Lirostan Provinces. It will be the world’s tallest dam and will produce 1500 MW.


The Iranian Energy Minister, Majid Namjoo, and the Chinese Ambassador to Iran, Yu Hong Yang, signed a deal on realization of the project. China’s Sayno Hydro Company will realize the project. Construction of the dam will take 10 years.
