Georgia plans to export petroleum products

The construction of a a refinery in Georgia will not only meet its needs in petroleum products, but will allow to export them as well, Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri told parliament today, Business Georgia reports.

"We intend to build a refinery in order to protect the country from rising prices for oil and not to depend directly on the world market, providing some stability to the prices of petroleum products in Georgia, "  said Khetaguri.

The minister noted that refinery construction is planned along the Black Sea, but the exact location will be chosen later. "With the demand of 800,000 tons of oil, the refinery capacity will be 4.5 million tons will allow us to export petroleum products abroad, " he stressed.
