TAP to help solve Italy’s energy problems

The participation of Italy in the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline project will help the country to solve its energy problems, the commercial advisor to the draft TAP Davide Rubini said , Trend reports.

In mid-March, the TAP held talks on the Southern Gas Corridor with members of the European Parliament. Its main purpose was to highlight the strategic role of Italy in this project, and enlist the support of the Italian members of the European Parliament for TAP.

According to Roubini, there are two competing projects for delivering Azerbaijani gas from the second stage of development of the Shah Deniz field to Italy, one of which is the draft TAP. The second project is the ITGI – the pipeline passing through Turkey, Greece and Italy.

The Trans-Adriatic pipeline will begin in Greece, pass through the territory of Albania and reach Italy via the Adriatic Sea. The estimated cost of construction of the pipeline is 1.5 billion euros. The length of the pipeline will be 520 kilometers.
