North Caucasus republics left without funding from housing reform fund

The Fund for Housing Reform has decided to suspend funding to the four republics in the North Caucasus Federal District that have not fulfilled the conditions of granting the funds, RIA Novosti reports, with reference to the director general of the Fund, Constantine Tsitsin.

The Fund for Housing Reform was established in 2007 and implements programs of resettlement and overhauling of apartment houses in the regions of Russia. In order to participate in these programs, regions should fulfil several requirements to reform the housing sector.

Funding was suspended in Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia and Ingushetia, said Tsitsin, noting that Chechnya did not participate in the program.

In his opinion, the most difficult situation is in Ingushetia, where most of the required building materials must be imported from other regions.
