The accident at the Japanese Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant that started after the earthquake and tsunami on March 11 and led to radiation leakage should be a lesson, not a deterrence, for the nuclear industry, Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov said, RIA Novosti reports.

Massimov said that he had a meeting with the head of Rosatom (Russian Federal Nuclear Energy Corporation) Sergey Kiriyenko in Astana yesterday.

They discussed the pros and cons of nuclear energy, and competitive benefits of Russian nuclear energy over European, US and Japanese.
