Armenia plans to keep the price of water at $0.03 per cubic meter, News Armenia reports Adibek Kazaryan, Director of the Office for Realization of Program of the State Committee for Water Economy of the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration, as saying.
Farmers pay less. The prime cost of water is $0.05 per cubic meter. The government subsidizes the price, making it lower. Armenia paid $11.3 million in water subsidies.
Kazaryan said that irrigation water in Armenia is expensive. 50% of the prime cost comes from electricity expenses. Neverthetheless, irrigation is ready for agricultural activities this year.
