Kazakhstan to fight poachers in Caspian region

Kazakh authorities plan to use military ships and helicopters to fight poachers who operate in the Caspian Sea, Novosti-Kazakhstan reports.


The law-enforcement agencies meeting that recommended this decision was held on April, 6. All these agencies will coordinate their activities against illegal fishing in Caspian Sea. Some 400 people, 40 items of machinery and 50 ships will be involved in the operation.


In 2010 some 250 acts of poaching were registered in the region, involving some 112 tons of illegally processed fish.
