Iran establishes special commission for Bushehr

Iran has established a special commission to investigate the cause of shutting down the nuclear power plant in Bushehr, FARS reports.

The commission will also consider modernization of the power plant, financial problems, conclusion of deals with Russia and other related issues. It will investigate the reasons for removing uranium fuel from the reactor.

Iran removed the fuel in October 2010. Iranian representative to IAEA Ali Asker Sultaniye said that it was Russia’s request to remove the fuel to carry out technical tests.

Iran and Russia signed a deal on constructing the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Tehran in 1995. The project is worth $1 billion. Construction was to be completed on January 8, 1999. Russia’s Atomstroy is responsible for construction.
