Istanbul has opened the first diamond and gem market, which may become one of the world centers of the industry.
The market opened at the Istanbul Gold Exchange. It sells unrefined and refined diamonds. Turkey is one of the world’s top five diamond-rich and jewellery states.
Africa, Canada, Russia and Australia are the main suppliers of raw materials. India, China, Turkey and Italy are leaders in refining gems and producing jewellery.
USA, Europe, Middle East and Asia have the best retail gem markets.
