South Caucasus Railway and Georgian Railway sign cooperation deal

The South Caucasus Railways and the Georgian Railways companies have signed a cooperation deal after negotiations in Tbilisi on April 7-8, the press-service of the SCR says.


The document was signed by the head of SCR, Shevket Shaydullin, and the Director General of GR, Irakly Ezugbaia. The document provides for an increase of railway freight and improvement of carriages, infrastructure, information exchange, service quality and security.


The sides will have digital exchange of information on freight and marketing studies of the transport services of Armenia and Georgia, provision of free support in case of railway accidents and experience exchange in repairing trains.


The two companies also decided to launch a special train on the Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan route from June 15 to September 30. An additional passenger train will be launched on the same route on Tuesdays and Fridays.


The sides will meet officials from the customs and border services on May 15 to negotiate the operation of the special train.
