The administration of the Baku Metro has taken the initiative to rename a number of subway stations due to the fact that some of the old names refer to the Soviet period, 1news.az reports.
According to the head of the Baku Underground Traffic Services, Hidayat Mammado the head of the Baku Undeground, Tagi Akhmedov has sent a signed appeal on this issue to the commission on toponymy at the Mili Mejlis of Azerbiajan.
The appeal presents proposals on new names of four existing metro stations, as well as of four new stations.
